on Ruud Fredrik's mobile dyno at the European Streetfighter Show '98
Standard untweaked 34mm CV carbs with separate K&N filters, BSM
Vampire exhaust
124hp |
| Very
unstable curves, but the red acceleration curve is way off. The
engine takes too long to catch up so the throttle-response needs
fixing. |

Measured
on the M.W.S. model 100 Dyno
Still the standard 34mm CV carbs with separate K&N filters and
BSM Vampire exhaust
Goal was to set the 34's up properly and improve throttle response
126hp, 112Nm
If I remember correctly the figures
meant; float level + 2mm, needle position 3 from top, 128 main jets,
2 1.5mm holes drilled into the bottom of the slides and +sl means
whe added two breather tubes to smoothen the power delivery. |
This
shows the gain in horsepower trough the gears and the blue power curve.
|
 |
| A
healty increase of torque along the range. |
 |
| This
shows how the throttle-response was fixed. Blue curve is how it should
be and red how it was. |

on the Moto Mirage mobile dyno at the KicXstart Streetfigher show
29mm flatslides bored to approx. 34mm, separate K&N's and BSM
Vampire
126hp |
| A
very smooth 126hp. My first experiment with flatslides and it looks
promising as they weren't even set up right. |

at HM-racing in the UK to set up my Mikuni RS36 flatslides
Mikuni RS36 carbs with separate K&N's, BSM Vampire
These graphs are in BHP and ft-lbs instead of SAE-HP and Nm!
Horsepower 133bhp / 135hp / 100kW
Torque 82ft-lbs / 112Nm

Torque
(you can't whack the throttle fully open untill the revs hit 5000)
We tried raising the needle to get rid of the dip @ 4500rpm but it
didn't work. Most probably caused by the exhaust system. |

on Moto Mirage's dyno
Velocity stacks on the Mikuni RS36's (no air filters) and a Laser
ProFrace exhaust
140.4hp |
| Power
up to a record- breaking 140.4hp! |

 |
| Here
my bike is plotted against a few turbo-bikes |
 |
| Stage
6 |
"Final"
configuration
- Mikuni RS36 with separate K&N's, factory settings
- Nikko Strada 4-2-1 exhaust system
- 3 degrees ignition advance by rotating the pickup base-plate counterclockwise
- one-off wiring loom with 14,1 volts at the coils
136hp @ 8724rpm / 125Nm @ 6519rpm
The
bike got a bit too extreme to my liking. With the Laser/RS36 combo
ran very rough at low revs but above 6000 it went ballistic! Also
the exhaust was a bit too loud to my liking. Must be gettin' old
;-)

| CV40
vs. RS36 |
Here's
a graph from someone who switched from 40mm CV carbs to Mikuni RS36's
Power went up 5hp and torque 5Nm |
