GSX-R1000 vs. SevenEleven

When I came across this dyno print of a Yoshi GSX-R1000 and noticed it gave less torque than my bike I decided to plot my power curves into the GSX-R1000 printout.
Remember my bike has a standard GSX1100F engine with only an aftermarket exhaust and Mikuni RS36 flatslide carbs.

I will explain what happens... between 2000 and 4500rpm the new injection system with the two butterfly valves and the "EXUP" system in the exhaust make sure the GSX-R1000 pulls cleanly from idle, then on the 7/11 the Mikuni RS's can be fully opened and let it pull away from the GSX-R1000... because the carbs on the 7/11 are only 36mm torque starts dropping after 7500rpm but the GSX-R1000 just keeps revving and revving and...

The wide spread of power across the rev range will give the GSX-R1000 a clear advantage on the road, but you can see that our oil-cooled friends are still going strong. Fit a big-bore kit and 38mm carbs and you'll dwarf the GSX-R... for a lot less money than trading in against a GSX-R1000!

Ofcourse the GSX-R1000 has much better chassis technology, but the much bigger testicle size of an oil-cooled rider will compensate for that ;-)

Units: Power in hp and Torque in lb-ft
