Grilles - GSX-R750F/G/H oil cooler grille
I
must say I was a bit sceptical about these grilles at first. "Do
they really expect people to pay money for a piece of chicken-fence
with a rubber edge?" I thought by myself... |
The grille arrived very well packaged, and the contents
looks very professional with clear constructions.
The package includes the grille, fitting instructions, tie-raps and
stainless locking wire. |
|
| The grille is made by high standards and is perfectly
flat. The dimensions are spot-on (400x162mm for a slabby 750) and
the ends of rubber edge have been melted together so it will never
come loose. |
|
Fitting it to the oil cooler is a breeze and only
takes ten minutes. I used the tie-raps on all four corners.
|
|
| Carefully threading them between the cooler's main
galleys and the fins taking care not to disturb them. |
|
| I used the lockwire in the middle to keep the grille
flush with the radiator. The space between the fins isn't large enough
to use a tie-rap. |
|
| As I said earlier the dimensions are perfect and it
really does look great! |
|
I don't like bolting stuff onto my bike but this thing
weighs fuck-all because it's made of aluminum and because it is so
light attaching it with tie-raps and lockwire is sufficient.
It also should do a great job of protecting the vintage oil cooler
against stones. |
|
No contest between this and the heavy, chromed and
restrictive grilles you often see on Bandits.
After the first ride to work it hasn't fallen off or melted onto
the cooler. Top job!

As I said at the beginning of this article I was a bit sceptical
about using one of these grilles, but the superb quality, looks
and ease of installation have convinced me it's worth spending money
on instead of trying to do it yourself.
