This has to be one of the easiest add-on performance parts available for modern fuel injected motorcycles. This particular version is made by Bradley O'Connor (Ex-DynoSpeed Developments) arguably the UK's leading Motorcycle Fuel-Injection Specialist.
Basically what it does is to fool the bike’s ECU into thinking it’s always in fifth gear, and advances the ignition by approximately 3º which smoothes out power delivery.
It has the added benefit of removing the top-speed restrictor (was 186mph, now closer to an indicated 195mph) – [ahem]

Connecting the TRE into the gearbox selector sensor is very easy, all you need to do is hinge the tank up, reach inside, disconnect the connector and connect the TRE in line.
The TRE already comes with the correct connectors and colour-coded wiring. |

Immediately noticeable is the engine feels more aggressive. Although by fitting this you’ve probably only gained 2-3 bhp. Accelerate away and you can feel how much difference this has made.
First, second and third gears definitely feel much crisper under acceleration. Which, if you’re a wheelie-merchant helps to keep the bike stabilised. Third gear wheelies are also a lot easier from lower revs too! – not that I recommend pulling wheelies on a public highway. |
| This particular one works perfectly well with a Power Commander too. Some cheaper versions of TRE’s are available, but they don’t work with a Power Commander. This version actually helps the electronics figure out what setting-up the bike needs. |
| The lads at Big CC Racing are offering a discount to OldSkool SUZUKI site members on these. Normally they retail for £45 +postage, Site members can purchase them for £40 +postage. I can honestly say, this little box of electronics is very highly recommended |
