Shot Blasting, Industrial Paint Stripping and Powder Coating
I met Stephen through Hippy-Mick. He'd told me about how
quick stripping parts was using the mixture of nasty chemicals that Stephen uses. To be honest,
I was a little dubious, but as I had purchased 3 engine cases that had been quite badly damaged,
one of which was beyond even my polishing talents, I thought it'd be a good idea to have them
powder-coated. I gave them to Stephen and simply asked for a "gun-metal grey" finish. "No problem",
he said, "I'll get them back to you in about a week".
That was a Monday evening down the pub. I was surprised when the following Friday he phoned me up
and said they were done, and did I want to meet him in a pub to collect them. |

Stephen talked me through his process, which involves some
seriously nasty chemicals, but they will strip any finish off of any metal quicker than anything
else I've ever come across. In fact, to do all three cases only took about 20 minutes to completely
strip the engine paint off.
He doesn't do the powder-coating "in-house" but passes it onto one of the 2 firms he uses and trusts.
Depending on the size of the parts, and the colour finish requires, he decides which one to use.
Stephen had taken care to remove the Oil-level site glass
before any work was done to the cases, and although he didn't refit it he made sure that I knew
how to and showed me exactly where to use silicon sealant.
Being a powder-coated finish, that was fully cleaned and etched before coating, it is very, very tough
and looks like a heavy drop on the tarmac wouldn't even put a scratch in it.
I can highly recommend Stephen for any work like this. It's a little unusual, and I'd certainly never
heard of anyone offering simply a parts stripping service. He can get quite busy with work from companies
who produce components for paint-ball guns, and the like - which just goes to show how good he is.
